Labour raises council tax by 4.99%… again!

Enough is enough. Our Labour led council has had failure after catastrophic failure and now, in classic Labour fashion, they want the tax payer to foot the bill and bail them out. This year’s 4.99% increase follows on the heels of last year’s eye-watering 9.9% increase! Where does it end?!

With the Darley Street Market project now costing Bradford a staggering £32 million, which is £10 million over budget, it’s no wonder that our Labour council is on the verge of bankruptcy. Prospective businesses for the market are already speculating about whether it’s worth bringing their businesses to Bradford given how badly this project has been managed and the unflattering light it has shone on Bradford’s council. The Labour Government’s devastating calamity budgets delivered by Chancellor Rachel Reeves have only added to the strain Bradfordians are feeling.

The Labour council have had the run of Bradford now for 15 years, they have given the people of Bradford promises of a wondrous regeneration and have instead delivered a city centre that most liken to a ghost town, with crime and degradation rife. Bradford, as well as the rest of the country, have seen a sharp rise in unemployment figures and with businesses being put off by our town centre and badly run council, there are no job prospects in the city.

The high crime rate scares away both visitors and investors from what was once a great and thriving town with people proud to live here. Bradford is now ranked as the 3rd most challenging city in the UK and has one of the highest shop vacancy rates in the UK.

Labour’s answer to all of these problems is to tax the residents of Bradford, instead of fixing what they have broken with years of mismanagement.
